Three Tips for Overcoming Self-Doubt



Growing up in an intense society, such as the one we are living through now can be extremely draining to our inner beings, sometimes causing us to live in a constant state of self-doubt. Whether it was a passing comment where no harm was intended, a harsh remark from a family member, or even a stranger lashing out at us on the internet, words can scar us, adding to our lack of self-love, and ultimately, causing us to doubt our full potential.

 

The good news is that though we can’t stop those instances from happening or from hurting, we can overcome our treacherous thought-process so that our full potential can be put to actual good use. The moment you start doubting yourself, is the exact moment where you are telling the Universe that you are not sure your end-goal is what you want. There are many ways in which we can overcome these, but let’s start with the top three:

 

1. Appreciate and acknowledge how far you’ve come. No matter what happens in your life, the only things no one can take away from you are your accomplishments, no matter how big or small they may be, it’s important to acknowledge every single one. A good way you can do this is by writing a list of ten things you’ve been able to accomplish in your life and why you’re so grateful and proud of yourself for doing so. Even if what you’re listing is as simple as: being able to get up in the morning, or cleaning the kitchen. Everything is worth noticing. All of the milestones, whether big or small, can make a huge difference in how you see yourself and how far you’ve come, and can really put into perspective how absolutely incredible you really are.


2. Take a moment to connect with yourself daily. Whether it’s ten minutes after you get off work, or while taking a shower, you should always try to find time to just be with yourself, noticing how your energy is moving and how your body is feeling. It’s important we nourish our souls as often as possible, and if you have a hectic schedule, then maybe consider taking one day out of the week or the month to completely dedicate to yourself. The moment you start to feel at peace with yourself, is the moment your self-doubt will start to vanish, because you’ll be able to recognize the full extent of your worth.


3. Keep your goals in mind and visualize with great detail. This is one of the best ways to not only eliminate self-doubt, but create something beautiful out of it. Make a vision board, s Pinterest board, or even a roadmap of what you want to accomplish in your life. Doesn’t matter how big or how small, but make sure you are able to see it, and if you need help with that then search for some images that can help you visualize with ease. The point is to stare at the photos (or visualize) what you want and to physically feel what it would be like to have those things or to have accomplished these new milestones. The moment you get familiar with that feeling of success is when you’ll be able to believe in yourself with much more ease and be able to believe in yourself once again, or for the very first time. Our minds are extremely powerful, it’s all a matter of believing that you can achieve things, and you’re already halfway there.
